hypertension (high blood pressure)–related signs and symptoms 👇

🩺 Early Stage (often asymptomatic)

Usually no symptoms — hypertension is called the “silent killer” because many people don’t feel anything even when BP is high.

⚠️ When Symptoms Appear (usually in moderate to severe cases)

1. Headache

Often at the back of the head (occipital)

Worse in the morning and improves during the day

2. Dizziness or light-headedness

3. Blurred or double vision

4. Palpitations (feeling of fast or irregular heartbeat)

5. Shortness of breath

6. Fatigue or confusion

7. Nosebleeds (epistaxis)

Usually in cases of very high BP (hypertensive crisis)

8. Chest pain or tightness

May indicate cardiac involvement (angina, left ventricular hypertrophy)

9. Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)

10. Swelling in legs (edema)

If hypertension has led to heart failure or kidney involvement

🧠 Hypertensive Emergency Symptoms (very high BP >180/120 mmHg with organ damage)

Severe headache

Nausea and vomiting

Blurred vision or visual loss

Confusion, seizures, loss of consciousness

Chest pain, shortness of breath
